Kirstie Alley Dead at 71 After Battle With Cancer

Actress Kirstie Alley passed away at the age of 71. Her passing was confirmed by her children True and Lily Parker in a statement posted on Twitter which read “we are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer only recently discovered.” 

The statement adds “she was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her neverending joy of life and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.” The Celeb was most famous for her role on Cheers alongside Ted Danson.

Kirsty won an Emmy and Golden Globe awards for the role in 1991. She also starred on the big screen, including the Look Who’s Talking franchise with John Travolta. 

Following Kirstie Alley’s death, Travolta paid tribute to her on Instagram, saying “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you, Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.” 

Kirstie Alley won her second Emmy award in 1994 for the television film David’s Mother and starred on the sitcom Veronica’s Closet from 1997 to 2000. Kirsty went on to compete on season twelve of Dancing with the Stars and came in second place in 2022. She competed in Season Seven of The Masked Singer.

Kirstie Alley’s children go on to say in their announcement of her passing, “Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.”
